Meet Dr. Jane Lu, DMD, MS

Energetically dedicated to the profession of orthodontics, it is my goal to build a reputation as a gentle and caring orthodontist who believes in the utmost precision and care for my patients. Using cutting-edge techniques, I strive for the highest quality of care with devotion to every detail. My greatest enjoyment in my profession is getting to know my patients and observing their heightened self-esteem as they acquire a spectacular new smile!

My love for orthodontics revolves around the idea that I get to help my patients on an individual level. Giving my patients the gift of a beautiful smile can help them open doors for the rest of their lives. I love seeing the impact a great smile can have on a person, and seeing their confidence improve at each visit is incredibly rewarding.  It is truly a privilege and an honor to be trusted with the job of creating smiles, and it is a responsibility I take very seriously.

EDUCATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

I am proud to be one of the only Ivy-League trained doctors practicing in the south Houston area.  My formal education began at the University of California Los Angeles, where I graduated magna cum laude and was elected into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. With the support of the Dean’s scholarship, I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania

While in dental school, I received numerous scientific awards and was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a prestigious national dental honor society. I continued my post-doctorate dental education with an additional three-year residency in orthodontics at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Michigan, where I earned a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics.

I attend national orthodontic meetings and continuing education courses regularly to hear the top speakers teach the latest technologies, treatment methods, and ways to improve each patient’s experience. I want to learn what is the most advanced and best out there so my patients can receive the highest quality treatment. I am also board certified, an honor only 25% of all orthodontists receive.

As a testament to my dedication to patient care, I have been selected by patients, peers, and colleagues to be in the elite club of “America’s Top Dentists” for the past two consecutive years. To live up to this honor, I pledge to bring a level of knowledge and artistic expression to all of my patients.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS
OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Born in Taiwan, my family and I moved to California when I was 15 years old. While I recently moved to Missouri City with my husband, Scott, we’ve lived in south Texas for more than eight years. I started playing the piano when I was six years old and learned the violin when I was nine, so music has always been an important aspect of my life. In my spare time, I also enjoy traveling and enjoying good food. I am a member of the Fort Bend Junior Service League which is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, to developing the potential of women and to improving the Fort Bend community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
